Triathlon shorts for men, women and kids

Triathlon shorts are a compromise between three sports. They are worn continuously from the swim to the run and therefore have to do things that cycling shorts do not.
The pad makes the difference
The most noticeable difference is the pad. It is much thinner than in cycling shorts so that it does not get in the way on the run and absorbs hardly any water. On the bike, this means less cushioning: enough for race distances, not for a five-hour training ride.
There are also quick-drying materials, flat seams and often small side or leg pockets for gels. The leg ends fit tight so that no water collects during the swim, but are less tight than on cycling shorts so that they do not constrict on the run.
When choosing between shorts and a one-piece suit, the distance usually decides. Over long distances, two-piece solutions are more popular, because they make toilet stops and changing the top much easier.
Some materials soak up more water than expected and then pull down on the bike.
