Schöffel – a 200-year journey to the top
Georg Schöffel founded the company of the same name in Schwabmünchen in 1804. The hosiery merchant stocked a wide range of knitwear – from socks to nightcaps to Swabian pointed caps, everything was there. With the major historical changes, the company also changed from generation to generation.
Eventually, Hubert Schöffel gave the company a new direction: functional sportswear. At the time, the concept of sportswear was still very new – the early change allowed Schöffel, as a pioneer, to become a market leader in the now well-established industry.
Specialized technology – How to be breathable and water-repellent at the same time
One reason for Schöffel's success is its weather resistance. They achieved this through “GORE-TEX”, a waterproof and windproof membrane. At first, this seemed to be a mistake when there were several defects. Nevertheless, Schöffel was the only company to stick with Gore on this project. This quickly brought success as the problems were resolved and new insights were gained. Schöffel has also used this experience to develop its own product called “Venturi”. This is also a membrane system with a similar function to Gore-Tex. A wide variety of outer fabrics are bonded together – either by a two- or a three-layer laminate. To offer a wide selection of products for every weather condition, Schöffel offers three different variants:
- Venturi Stretch: Maximum flexibility with solid protection against wind and water.
- Venturi Ventbreak: Low weight and high breathability, perfect for high-performance sports.
- Venturi Softshell: Windproof, water-repellent and breathable: the classic Venturi variant as an all-rounder.
