The right first layer

A base layer fits closely and absorbs sweat before the jersey gets wet. In summer, thin mesh base layers keep the air flowing; in winter, long-sleeve models keep you warm. What matters is a material that wicks moisture away instead of retaining it.

Santini lists the base layers in a separate subcategory.

Tip: On cold days, wear two thin layers rather than one thick one. You can open the outer one if needed.
