You can pull the short peak down or flip it up depending on the position of the sun. In the rain, it is the most effective way to keep water off your glasses, and much more effective than any lens coating.
The thin cotton or technical fabric fits closely and adds hardly any bulk under the helmet.
Tip: Peak down in rain and low sun, up on the climb. Flipped up, it gives no shade, but it stops sweat from running down your forehead into your eyes.
