When Michael Eidson participated in the 1988 “Hotter’N Hell 100” race in Texas, he had an innovative idea. He filled an IV bag with water, slipped it into a sock, put it into his backpack, and routed a thin tube over his shoulder so he could drink while riding. The idea of the hydration pack was born!
It was not easy to get the company started, and the men behind Camelbak were often laughed at and not taken seriously. However, the Camelbak hydration system has now become an integral part of the sports world, and several companies use this simple and ingenious principle in their products.
