Under headwear, you find the caps and headbands from 2XU in the men's range. They are thin, light and designed for quick drying rather than insulation.
2XU headwear for men
The main purpose is to catch sweat before it runs into the eyes. This makes them a summer item as well as a thin layer in spring, when a winter cap under the helmet would be too warm.
A headband only covers the forehead and leaves the crown free; a cap covers the head completely. If you mainly want to wick away sweat in warm weather, you stay cooler with a headband.
Tip: Check the helmet fit again after putting on the cap. Even thin materials change the fit of the helmet band slightly, which you notice on descents.
