With bike computers, it is mainly the software that develops, not the measuring technology. A device from the previous generation measures speed, cadence and heart rate just as accurately as the current model. The difference is in maps, display size and battery life.
Before you buy, check two things: whether the device supports the wireless standards of your existing sensors, and whether the manufacturer still provides updates for the series. For discontinued models, this ends at some point.
