Craft cycling overshoes
On the bike, your feet hardly move and are fully exposed to the headwind at the front. That is why they are the first to cool down in the cold, and thicker socks only help to a limited extent in a tight cycling shoe. An overshoe keeps out the wind before it gets through the shoe's ventilation openings.
Tip: Only close the overshoes fully after clipping in. This lets you see whether the sole opening sits cleanly around the cleat.
