Lighting is the area of technology in which model years differ most clearly. Bright previous year's models are nevertheless usually the better choice than weaker new items.
Bike lighting at a glance
Look at two figures. The light output tells you about brightness; the burn time at full power tells you about practical use, and the second figure is often much shorter on cheaper models. For road use in Germany, the light must also have StVZO approval.
Check the charging port, because older models often still charge via Micro-USB instead of USB-C.
