Technical base layers are a wear part. You wash them after every ride, they sit directly on the skin, and they lose elasticity over the years. This is an area where buying the discounted item pays off especially.
Base layers at a glance
It makes sense to buy several identical pieces. If you rotate three identical undershirts, you have to wash less often, and each one lasts correspondingly longer.
Base layers should fit close. If in doubt, take the smaller size. An undershirt that is too loose wrinkles and hardly wicks moisture.
