Gore Wear rain jackets for women are built for prolonged rain. Unlike a wind jacket, a rain jacket must stay waterproof even when water is pressed against the fabric from the front and from below.

What makes a rain jacket waterproof?

The membrane and the seams are decisive. The seams must be taped, otherwise water gets in at the needle holes. Breathable does not mean that you stay dry under the jacket: during hard efforts, you produce more sweat than a membrane can transport away.

Cycling-specific rain jackets have a longer cut at the back so that your lower back stays covered in your riding position, and the sleeves reach past your wrists even with your arms stretched out.

Tip: Reproof the jacket regularly. If water no longer beads off, the outer fabric becomes saturated and the jacket feels clammy, even though the membrane is waterproof.
