Airy in the heat
A cycling top leaves your shoulders and arms free and is designed for hot summer days when even a short sleeve jersey is too warm. Many riders also wear one for indoor training, where there is no airflow to cool you. Unlike a sleeveless jersey, a top is usually cut looser and does not always have back pockets.
If you ride on the road in a top, remember sun protection for your shoulders and arms. Without fabric, the skin there is directly exposed to the sun, often for hours on long rides.
