A bike computer involves more than the device itself. In this category, you find mounts, sensors, magnets, charging cables and spare parts that let you continue using or extend an existing bike computer.

What you can add

The most common additions are cadence and speed sensors. If you have only ridden by speed so far, cadence gives you a second value that is often more meaningful in training.

Buying them separately is easy.

For older sensors, keep a spare button cell in your toolbox. An empty battery is by far the most common reason why a sensor is thought to be faulty; this is usually recognisable because the values drop out during the ride rather than being missing completely.

When you buy a sensor, check the transmission protocol, because not every bike computer supports both ANT+ and Bluetooth.
