Cycling gilets for trail & enduro
If you pedal uphill for an hour and then ride downhill for twenty minutes, you know the problem: uphill, any jacket is too much; downhill, your sweaty back quickly gets cold. A gilet with a wind-resistant front solves this without restricting the arms, which work constantly in technical riding.
Off-road, the gilet should fit over protectors and be made of a material that withstands branches. Models with a full-length zip can be closed quickly at the trailhead without taking off the helmet.
Models that pack into their own pocket are practical. They disappear into the backpack without sliding around loosely and can be taken out again quickly at the start of the descent.
In the bike park, where you ride almost only downhill, a gilet is usually not enough. There, a light jacket or long sleeve shirt under the protector is the better solution.
