Gore Wear knee-length shorts for women reach to just below the knee. They close the gap between cycling shorts and long tights and are designed for spring and autumn, when it is too cool for bare knees but too warm for long tights.

Why protect your knees?

The knee has hardly any muscle that generates heat and is constantly exposed to the wind as you pedal. Knee-length shorts keep your knees warm without the need for additional knee warmers, which can slip or press under the leg of the shorts.

Compared to cycling shorts with knee warmers, knee-length shorts have the advantage that there is no edge at the transition. On the other hand, they are less flexible: if it gets warm at midday, you can take off knee warmers, but the knee-length shorts stay on.

Tip: If you set off in the cold in the morning and expect sun at midday, you are often better off with cycling shorts and knee warmers than with knee-length shorts.
