Thin or thermal?
Long-sleeve jerseys come in two basic forms. Thin models protect your arms from wind and sun and are pleasant on cool summer mornings or on mountain rides. Thermal models have a brushed inside and keep you warm on days that are still too warm for a jacket. Under a winter jacket, a thin long-sleeve jersey becomes the middle layer.
A long-sleeve jersey does not replace a jacket in the wind. If you get cold on the descent, wear a wind gilet over it.
Tip: When you buy, pay attention to the sleeve length in your riding position. There should be no gap between glove and sleeve, even with your arms stretched out.
