Where the bars come from
Gary Erickson developed the first bar in the early 1990s. On a long day tour, the products common at the time no longer tasted good to him. The bar officially launched in 1992, named after Erickson's father, Clifford. The company is based in Emeryville, California, and has belonged to Mondelez International since 2022.
What the bars are good for
The recipes are based on rolled oats and are designed for longer efforts. On the bike, that means base fueling on tours and in long training rides. The bars combine well with other energy food for the more intense sections.
