ASSOS chamois cream
This becomes relevant on rides long enough that the chamois pad alone is no longer sufficient: the limit varies from person to person, typically beyond two to three hours. On multi-day tours, chamois cream is the rule rather than the exception, because skin irritation builds up from day to day.
Besides the fat content, many formulas contain skin-soothing additives; details are given in the respective product description.
Tip: Apply the cream to the skin, not to the pad. In the pad it spreads unevenly and is harder to wash out, which shortens the life of the shorts.
