Scott flat pedal shoes

Flat pedal shoes have a flat, grippy rubber sole that holds on the pins of the pedals. You can take your foot off the pedal at any time, which gives you confidence on steep terrain, in the bike park and as a beginner. The sole is a little stiffer than on a casual shoe so that power is transferred well.

They are much better for walking and pushing than clipless shoes.

Tip: Combine flat pedal shoes with pedals that have replaceable pins. This lets you adjust the grip.
