Wind jackets can be roughly divided into two groups. Very light models fold down small and travel in your jersey pocket until you need them. Slightly sturdier models are worn for longer, protect better and, in return, no longer fit in every pocket. WINDSTOPPER is Gore's windproof material, which is used in some models.
A wind jacket often helps against a short shower, but not against prolonged rain.
Tip: Take off the wind jacket again after the descent before you go uphill. On the climb, heat quickly builds up under the jacket.
