Who is behind UYN

For about twenty years, the company produced the technical base layers of other high-tech brands. In 2019, it launched its own brand, UYN.

What knitting expertise means on the bike

UYN comes from base layers, not from jerseys. You can see this in constructions that do without continuous seams and place zones of different density directly into the knit. In practice, this means fewer chafing spots at the shoulder and armpit, and base layers that fit close without constricting. Natural fibers are combined with synthetic yarns.

Where you should start

You notice the biggest difference in the layers that sit directly on the skin. Undershirts and socks are therefore the obvious entry point, before you reach for a jersey or thermal jacket. For the in-between season, arm warmers and leg warmers are the more flexible solution than a second jacket, because you can stow them on the road.

Technical base layers belong directly on the skin, with no cotton shirt underneath. Otherwise the layers above cannot take over moisture wicking. When washing, use no fabric softener. It coats the fibers and takes away exactly the function you paid for.
