Which cycling shoes are suitable for continuous rain?

For continuous rain, cycling shoes with a fully waterproof membrane and welded seams that stay dry even in hours of rain are suitable – a clear difference from regular, well-ventilated shoes, which are designed primarily for cooling rather than weather protection.

A waterproof outer layer combined with a sole that is still sufficiently stiff keeps you dry without affecting power transfer when you pedal.

Especially on long commutes in unpredictable weather, a fully waterproof shoe offers more reliability than a rain overshoe pulled on afterwards.

Tip: If you ride in continuous rain very often, consider a fully waterproof shoe instead of an overshoe system, as it tends to stay watertight more reliably.
