Padded cycling underwear
Cycling underwear has a seat chamois and is worn under regular pants. That is the solution for the commute and for tours where you do not want to arrive in cycling shorts.
Combination with pants without chamois
It also works the other way round: under cycling tights without their own chamois. That way you can wash both pieces separately, and you can change the chamois as needed.
Construction
A flat leg hem without a raised seam prevents pressure points under the outer pants. The material should pass on moisture, so that no buildup forms under two layers.
Do not wear any other underwear under cycling underwear.
