ION bike shorts for men are wide shorts for the mountain bike. They are worn over padded cycling undershorts or on their own, depending on whether the model has its own chamois pad.
What to look for in bike shorts?
The leg length decides whether the shorts work with knee pads. The leg of the shorts should reach over the upper edge of the pads so that there is no gap where your skin chafes. On many models, you can adjust the waistband with hook-and-loop or a ratchet so that the shorts fit even without a belt.
The material should be robust, but stretchy enough for the movement when you pedal and when you stand on the bike. In summer, vents help; in autumn, a denser fabric helps against mud and spray.
Tip: Test the new shorts on the bike, standing and seated. If the crotch gets caught on the saddle, the shorts are cut too wide.
