Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe: The team that brought German cycling back!
When the team was founded in 2010 by Ralf Denk as Team NetApp, German cycling was in a crisis! The doping scandals had destroyed the image of the sport, and interest was at rock bottom. Nevertheless, Denk took the bold step and started the team in the lowest division of cycling. Just one year later, promotion to the second division followed, and another year after that even participation in the Giro as the first Grand Tour.
2017 represented an absolute breakthrough for the team in two areas at the same time! Not only did promotion to the highest division of cycling succeed, but Peter Sagan, the superstar of cycling and reigning world champion, was also signed. In a very short time, the team had developed from a small hope into a “super team” and celebrated one success after another!
Victories at Paris–Roubaix, World Championships, and the overall wins at the Italian and Spanish tours are just some of the successes that were to follow from this point on!
In 2024, Red Bull joins the team and acquires 51% of the team shares from Ralf Denk. This once again means a turnaround for the team, because when Red Bull enters a sport, they go all in! For the team, this means a massively increased budget, Primoz Roglic as a new top star, and a new, more striking media presence.
In 2026, Remco Evenepoel joins the team as the most expensive transfer in cycling history and thus impressively shows what a team with the backing of a giant like Red Bull is financially capable of.
