Which cycling gloves are suitable for road rides in summer?
For road rides in summer, short-finger gloves with a padded palm and breathable mesh panels on the back of the hand are particularly suitable. They dampen vibrations without heating up the hand unnecessarily – unlike closed, often lined winter gloves.
The padding is concentrated specifically on the areas of the palm that take the most pressure, without additional material impairing ventilation.
The short fingers leave the fingertips free, which improves your feel for brakes and gears. A light glove colour can also help the back of the hand heat up less in direct sunlight on very hot days than with dark colours.
As summer gloves are worn and sweated in much more often than winter gloves, a machine-washable model is also worthwhile.
Tip: A thin glove is worthwhile even in high summer. It dampens vibrations and protects your palms in a crash on tarmac.
