Worn under the helmet, they catch sweat before it runs into your eyes or onto your glasses. This is the main reason why many riders wear thin headwear in summer too, instead of seeing it only as a winter item.
Because the material is hardly bulky, the fit of the helmet does not change noticeably. With thicker winter caps, this is different; the helmet band usually needs to be readjusted there.
Tip: Wash it out soon after the ride. Sweat residues settle faster in thin fabric than in thicker materials and make the cap smell after only a short time.
