A warm winter hat usually does not fit under the helmet, because the helmet then sits too high. A classic cycling cap made of thin fabric with a short peak, on the other hand, is worn under the helmet and protects your face from sun and rain.
For riding in winter, an under-helmet cap is often the better choice than a hat, because it is thinner and still covers your ears.
Tip: Pack a warm hat for after the ride. Otherwise, your sweaty head quickly loses heat after you arrive or during the coffee break.
