Under-helmet caps and headbands are the main items worn under the helmet, because they are thin enough not to change how the helmet fits. Peaked caps and thick winter hats, on the other hand, are intended for the time without a helmet, before and after the ride or when running. If you ride a lot in winter, choose your headwear together with your helmet, because not every helmet can be adjusted far enough.
Tip: In the cold, you lose a lot of warmth through your head, but on a climb also a lot of heat. A headband is often a better compromise than a closed hood.
