What matters
A helmet must fit snugly all round, must not slip when you shake your head and should be well ventilated. Many modern helmets, including those from Specialized, have a system against rotational forces in an angled impact.
After a crash, you should always replace your helmet.
Tip: Adjust the helmet so that it sits about two finger widths above your eyebrows.
