Winter tights for cycling

The front of the thighs and knees is windproof, because that is exactly where the headwind hits. The back, in contrast, can stay breathable.

With or without pad

Both are common. Models without a pad are worn over inner shorts and need to be washed less often, which is an advantage with thick material.

Leg ends

A tight end prevents air from coming in from below. Zips at the ankle make it easier to put them on over the shoe, but they should be closable, otherwise this is exactly where the cold spot develops.

There must be no gap between tights and overshoe. High winter socks close it.
