Headbands
A headband absorbs sweat before it runs into your eyes or onto your glasses. On summer climbs, that is the most common reason to wear one.
As ear protection
In fall, the second job comes in: a wider band covers the ears and is the thinnest solution for days when a hat under the helmet would be too warm.
Under the helmet
The material must be flat, or the helmet sits differently. Stretchy technical fabrics adapt to different head shapes without pressing.
A headband weighs almost nothing and fits in any jersey pocket. For rides that start early and cold, it is often all that is missing.
